So kind going out to the store to get us something quiet and good food in the area

Paul Schnurr

Absolutely worth the view! I found this apartment on Booking.com and spent a good few weeks debating whether to book it—mainly because of the reviews mentioning the narrow road up (I hate single lanes!). But I kept coming back to it because, honestly, that view was calling me. Then I spotted a review saying you could get a better price by booking direct, so I did via the apartment’s website. Communication was brilliant from the moment I booked. I WhatsApped to confirm our arrival time, and Isabelle’s husband was there to greet us and show us around. Coming from Scotland, I’m used to driving on the other side of the road, and I found the drive from Milan Bergamo completely fine. We really appreciated the little extras—coffee, toilet roll, towels (even a couple for the sun loungers), cloths, and kitchen bits—all the essentials you don’t want to be buying when you’ve just flown in. Waking up to that view each morning was amazing, and spotting the fireflies at night was such a lovely bonus. Yes, there were a few insects and the odd lizard, but nothing unexpected for the area. We used the apartment as a base to explore Lake Garda and went on a couple of bus tours to the Dolomites and Venice. There’s a wee supermarket about 2km away, and a Lidl in Riva. Annoyingly, we didn’t discover until the day before we left that there’s actually a lot more to Tignale than we thought! Park at the tourist info and walk past Al Torricho (great restaurant) and you’ll find a few shops, ice cream spots, and more. I did end up buying a fan from Lidl for the bedroom—typical Scots, not used to 30+ degree heat! It made sleeping much easier though. Beds were comfy, and the kitchen was well equipped (once we found the toaster and realised the hob only works when there’s a pan on it ?). Our teen slept on the sofa bed in the living room and was happy enough. The apartment itself was spotless and modern, with loads of outdoor seating, loungers, and deck chairs. You could sometimes hear neighbours’ doors banging, but it wasn’t a big deal. Midway through our stay, Isabelle checked in and arranged a fresh set of towels and linen (which smelt amazing, by the way)—really appreciated that. All in all, even with the slightly windy drive up, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. It was the perfect peaceful retreat after a day of visiting the busier towns around the lake. Huge thanks to Isabelle and her lovely family!
